Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey (born 16 May 1977) is a New Zealand actress. She is known for her distinctive, soft-spoken and headstrong roles. She is mostly seen in films that are independent. She has received an New Zealand Film Award as in addition to a Hollywood Film Award as well as a Sundance Special Jury Award. Her film debut was the teenage murderer in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the United States, Lynskey built a career as a supporting actor in several smaller and large-budget movies including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of Grass (2009), Win Win (2011) and Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014), They Came Together (2014) and Don't be distracted (2021). Lynskey received critical acclaim and a nomination for the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Performer for her role as a depressed divorcee in Hello I Must Be Going (2012) The film proved to be a turning stage in her career. Her subsequent lead roles in Happy Christmas and We'll Never Have Paris (all 2014), The Intervention (all 2016), Rainbow Time, Little Boxes, I'm Not Home in This World Anymore (both 2017), Lady of the Manor (2021), Sadie (2018) Sadie (2018), and Lady of the Manor (both 2018) made her an influential figure in the American independent film industry. Lynskey's role as Rose in CBS the sitcom Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) brought her recognition. She was the main character on Togetherness between 2015 and 2016, where she was nominated by Critics' Choice Television Awards for Best Supporting Actress. Megan and Beatrice were her voices on the Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014). (2016-2018). She was also the star of Molly Strand, the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018). Rosemary Thomson starred in Mrs. America on FX (2020).
