Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress. She was a student at the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris. Her roles include Loup (2009) as well as Sleepless Night (2011). She plays the Mantis character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017). Avengers: Infinity War (2018). Avengers: Endgame (2019). Pom Klementieff was raised in Quebec City to a Korean father and a French-Russian mother. He was employed as consul for the French government. Eugene Klementieff, a painter was her grandpa. Because it sounds similar to the Korean words for "spring" or "tiger", her parents gave their daughter the name Pom. Klementieff was in Canada for a year prior to her family was able to travel extensively because of her father's job. Before moving to France, they lived in Japan and on the Ivory Coast. Klementieff lost her father to cancer at age five. Her mother was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her aunt and uncle paternal. Her uncle, whom she said in her own words as "like her father from childhood," died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. The older brother of her took his own life seven years later. This time, it happened on her birthday, which was on the 25th. Klementieff briefly attended law school following the death of her uncle to placate her aunt, but did not find the career path appealing. In France, she worked as a salesperson and waitress. She began acting at age 19 at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris. It was only one month in studying when she won the competition to be a part of the theater that provided her two years of class with the best teachers at the school. Her first acting gig professionally was in the French independent film Apres lui (2007), playing the stepdaughter to the protagonist as played by Catherine Deneuve. The filming took place over three days to capture her scenes. During one scene, Klementieff was to be pushed down a flight of stairs but fell her way down the stairs, as did director Gael Morel used that scene for the final film. Loup (2009) was an French film that focuses on the Siberian reindeer herders, was her debut big role. In the course of filming, she stayed in a camping area, which was hours away from the nearest village where temperatures dropped to below freezing.
